Our Story
In January of 2011, the creator of the EZ Tray, Edward Fitzgibbons, suffered a severe ankle injury forcing him to use crutches for 12 weeks. As a freshman in college, he found himself unable to independently use the campus dining halls. Even with his new friends and the dining hall staff helping him day in and day out, Edward lost 17 pounds in the first two weeks of using crutches in the cafeterias.
It was at this point that Edward and co-founder, Andrew Lebovitz, came up with a simple solution to the problem thousands of students on crutches face each day. Their solution was the EZ Tray. For the next 9 weeks, Edward used the EZ Tray to navigate the dining halls self-sufficiently.
After some insightful guidance from the director of dining services at Middlebury College, Matthew Biette, Andrew and Edward developed a product that is simple and effective for both the user and the dining staff. In 2012, EZ Trays LLC introduced the EZ Tray to the college and university market. As the company has grown, Andrew and Edward have worked hard to ensure the quality and attention to detail afforded to EZ Trays and their customers will never change.
